JEAN-ALEXANDER "SACHA" NTIVYIHABWA
executive producer

Born in 1964, Sacha grew up in Bujumbura, Burundi and Düsseldorf.

After completing his compulsory community service, he studied African Studies, History and Ethnology in Hamburg and

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He was awarded his Magister Phil. in 1994 for a thesis on “Swahili poetry between German colonial power and African resistance”.

 

Afterwards, he looked after migrant minors for the “Rauhes Haus” charity in Hamburg and undertook various internships in the field of music television. This was followed by an editorial traineeship with the city broadcaster Hamburg 1, and in 1997 Sacha joined the editorial staff of MME TV Produktions GmbH.

 

From 2000–2008, he worked as executive producer for a wide range of television formats, mainly in the public sector, on behalf of MME – incl.  “Sunday Night Classics” (ZDF), the kick-off and final shows of “Europa’s Heritage – The Great Dramatists” and the documentary series “Body Talk” (ZDF/ARTE). He wrote the screenplays for many different documentaries, including the series “Sex’n’Pop” and “Popsession”. Since 2008, he has been the managing partner of SMP Signed Media Produktion GmbH & Co KG.
