Jamo Franz is a filmmaker from Hamburg. He was born in Hamburg-Altona in 1995, grew up there and graduated from Rudolf-Steiner Altona in 2014.

After graduating from high school, he completed a voluntary social year at a school in the East African port city of Dar es Salaam and learned the Kiswahili language during his one-year stay in Tanzania. In 2016, Jamo Franz began studying history at Phillips University Marburg and after 3 semesters switched to the "Art, Music and Media: Organization and Mediation" course. He wrote his Bachelor's thesis in the Department of Media Studies on various approaches to dealing with colonial and racist stereotypes and narratives in audiovisual media.

Thanks to the work of his father, TV and film producer Jean Alexander Ntivyihabwa, Jamo Franz has been familiar with the various phases of TV and film production since childhood. He developed this experience as a teenager by shooting and editing skate and rap videos.

His enthusiasm for feature films and series made Jamo Franz want to gain experience in the fiction sector. After working as an intern on "Country Queen" in 2018, he worked again in Nairobi, Kenya, for the production company Good Karma as an offline editor and executive producer assistant for the feature film "Chaguo" (2021). In 2022, Jamo Franz was involved in the Bon Voyage series production "Hello" (AT) in Munich as a production manager. Jamo Franz is currently working as an editor for the Arte format TRACKS, where he realized the films "Kampf um Likes - Wie Influencer den Kampfsport verändern", "Popmacht Afrobeats - Der Wettlauf um den nigerianischen Musikmarkt" and "Almaci Rap Export - Türkischer Rap made in Berlin" in 2023. Further films for Arte TRACKS are in the works.
